What To Do

  • -Laning phase is extremely Quinn favored. This matchup is still classified as hard though, because usually, this pick only ever comes out when your team is limited in AP or in the worst case, full AD. This gives Rammus free reign to stack armor and become extremely hard for your team to kill as the game goes on. Your goal will be to scale into the mid-game faster than him, and then end the game before the 35-40 minute mark.
  • -You are welcome to go any build you are comfortable executing this plan with, but in general - I have found the grasp strategy to be the most straightforward to pull off. At lower ranks, the lethality build can be even better to snowball from the other lanes - so consider purchasing scaling items such as Cull or Hubris.
  • -Your goal will be to match him either in lane or around the map. He is very weak by himself until he gets his thornmail, and then afterwards - LDR and any AP on the team can shut him down if he stacks pure armor, so LDR second or at latest third is0 essential to win in this matchup.
  • -Cleanse will keep you safe from his Ult + E engages post-6 and into the mid game, while ignite will help shut him down early and win skirmishes. In general, I would take ignite - but if the enemy team has a lot of cc, cleanse is a solid option as well.

Matchup Tip

Matchup Tip: Go Grasp and Start Cull for maximum scaling. If your team is full AD, the game will be very difficult if the Rammus actually knows how to play him. In a sense, this is similar to the Malphite matchup. Taking grasp will hard punish Rammus for sitting in the lane to try and farm, and getting stacked on will wear on him mentally throughout the game. Do NOT let Rammus outroam you. Your goal will be to match him either in lane or around the map. He is very weak by himself until he gets his thornmail, and then afterwards - LDR and any AP on the team can shut him down if he stacks pure armor.

L1

This is extremely important: you are going to want to walk with the first set of minions to lane to defend against a proxy. A good rammus will be trying to proxy all game, so defend this first wave and then work with your team to make sure he has to come to lane in order to get farm - that way you can punish him when he goes for each CS and start stacking your grasp.

L2

Continue to force him to come to lane and follow him if he tries to skirmish in the top-side of the map. He will be much weaker in these fights without his thornmail, so do not be scared to skirmish with your team if you have the numbers.

L3

Like Malphite, his Ult combined with E taunt cannot kill you by itself but will give a perfect gank or dive setup for his jg or mid laner. Just respect it and play back when jg/mid whereabouts are unknown, backing to base when low. Post-6 continue to stack grasp if he comes to lane, match his roams, or push the wave and roam yourself to secure leads for the team. Having a strong AP teammate will be very helpful to keep the Rammus in check.
