What To Do
- -This is a rare but extremely tough matchup if the enemy actually plays Sejuani. Like Gragas, Sejuani has a dash that is unable to be canceled by Quinn's E. Unlike Gragas though, Sejuani's dash ability can go through minions and knock you up, so hiding behind minions is a non-option. Every single other ability Sejuani has either includes a slow, a knockback, or a stun, making it extremely difficult to survive all-ins or ganks.
- -And in the current season, Sejuani has no lack of damage, as she can build items like Dusk and Dawn, Rylai's for extra slows, as well as rocketbelt. She also has a lot of tank options, including Frozen Heart, Iceborn Gauntlet, and Protoplasm.
- -Worse yet, her ultimate not only set up a solokill but also is an extremely effective way to set up a gank or a dive on you to also kill you. Sejuani also takes one or two offensive summoner spells like ignite, exhaust, or ghost, giving her even more tools to 1v1 you during the laning phase.
- -Your win con here is to survive the laning phase with as few deaths as possible and scale up to two to three items and play the map. While Sejuani can 1v1 you and bully you in the lane, you are able to apply map-wide pressure and push the waves and catch people out of position constantly. Sejuani, in the mid to late game phase, transitions to an engage CC team fighting tank, and she is really slow to move to many different fights that you might start, so abuse your mid to late game champion identity and try not to get caught out.
Level-by-Level
Matchup tip: Throughout this matchup, you are always going to want to save your E for until after Sejuani uses her Q ability. If you try to E her while she is dashing, you will get dropped to the ground, and your E will be on cooldown. She can get a really big trade-in. She can also buffer her Q when you start to E her, and that will also cancel your dash and drop you to the ground.
Sejuani usually starts W here, so she is very weak at level one. You can look to do a Quinn cheese and go for really big trades. Once the minions arrive, you can zone her from the wave and prevent her from getting XP when she's level one. Here you can E offensively to get harrier procs. Do not be scared.
Sejuani will then usually start Q here. She's still relatively weak, and so you can still continue to be aggressive and use your abilities. Just make sure you don't try to trade with her while you're inside her minions, since she can queue you and the minions will do a lot of damage.
Once Sejuani gets level 3, you no longer can use your E offensively and should save E for only when she finishes using her Q.
The biggest thing to note here when she gets level 3 is to avoid getting hit by the second part of her W at any cost. If she hits the second part of her W, she can Q forward and apply 2 stacks of her E with autos and stun you and get a good big trade. If you get hit by W2, you're going to want to play back for a little bit until it wears off. At that point, you can continue laning as usual. When she misses her W2, that's your chance to apply pressure and go for a trade with autos and Q.
Just be wary of the W2 combo from Sejuani, since one or two of those combos can put you in lethal range.
Once Sejuani gets her ultimate, she can 1v1 you at any point in the laning phase. Also, her ultimate ability is a perfect gank or dive setup for her mid or jungle. Don't be scared to use a Summoner spell or two to avoid getting hit by her ultimate.
You'll also want to look out again for getting hit by the W2. If you do end up getting hit by the W2 and you have ~75% HP or less, you HAVE to flash the Q that Sejuani is going to follow up with, because she is going to follow up with her full combo plus R and her offensive summoner spells, and you are dead 100% of the time.
